Sally Wainwright’s Gentleman Jack was a resounding success back in 2019, and while it might have taken longer than planned for a second series to arrive, Suranne Jones and the rest of the cast will be back on our screens this spring. Check out some initial images from the new series…

The story for this new run of eight episodes is set in Yorkshire in 1834. All eyes are on Anne Lister (Jones) and Ann Walker (Sophie Rundle) as they set up home together at Shibden Hall as wife and wife, determined to combine their estates and become a power couple. Anne Lister’s entrepreneurial spirit frightens the locals as much as her unconventional love life and, with Halifax on the brink of revolution, her refusal to keep a low profile becomes provocative and dangerous.
Gemma Whelan (Marian Lister) and Lydia Leonard (Mariana Lawton) are back, while Joanna Scanlan guests as Anne Lister’s outrageous former lover Isabella ‘Tib’ Norcliffe.
The series, as mentioned above, will return in the spring via BBC One and iPlayer in the UK and on HBO in the States.
