As the cameras continue to roll on Season 2 of Good Omens in Scotland, we’re learning more about who will be returning to the cast of the series, who is new and those who aren’t back. The latest announcement has Derek Jacobi reprising the role of Metatron and Siân Phillips joining the cast as a character yet to be revealed.
While Season 1 adapted Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett‘s classic 1990 apocalypse comedy novel, Gaiman (who is co-showrunner here) has taken ideas the two dreamt up for an unwritten sequel. John Finnemore is his main co-writer. The new season will find angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant) wrapped up in a new mystery.
Niamh Walsh is back alongside League Of Gentlemen veterans Reece Shearsmith, Mark Gatiss and Steve Pemberton, while Tim Downie, Pete Firman, Andi Osho and Alex Norton are aboard. Other returning faces? Jon Hamm, Miranda Richardson, Maggie Service, Nina Sosanya, Doon Mackichan, Gloria Obianyo, Liz Carr, Quelin Sepulveda and Shelley Conn.
According to Deadline, there are more names to be added to the list, but Gaiman has yet to announce them.
“We are so thrilled that we were able to get so many fabulous actors to return to the Good Omens family,” says Gaiman in a statement. “Some of them are reprising roles, some of them are playing completely new characters. And we are just as thrilled by the people coming to the Good Omens team for the first time. We have an ensemble cast of astonishing talent, and seeing what they’re giving us is a daily treat. I can’t wait until the rest of the world gets that treat, too.”
