Poland announced on Sunday plans to host an extraordinary Permanent Council session of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) amid rising tensions in eastern Ukraine, it announced on Sunday.

Ukraine’s OSCE mission requested the meeting, which will be held on Monday, tweeted Adam Halacinski, Poland’s permanent representative to the organization. Poland is currently serving as the OSCE chair.

“Addressing security concerns is OSCE’s primary task,” said Halacinski.

Western countries have accused Russia of amassing nearly 150,000 troops along the Ukrainian border, prompting fears that it could be planning a military offensive against its ex-Soviet neighbor.

Moscow has repeatedly denied any plan to invade Ukraine and instead accused Western countries of undermining Russia’s security through NATO’s expansion toward its borders.
